AALU Graduate Jorge Martinez Ayala will be giving a talk in the university of Paris Malaquais outlining the new research lines set by Landscape Urbaism as a new discipline.

THE WORK OF PLASMASTUDIO + GROUNDLAB IN XIAN UNIVERSITY
Holger Kehne Ulla Hell and Alfredo Ramirez gave a joint lecture at Xian University on the 9th March 2009. The lecture focuses on the multiscalarity and transdisciplinary approach that permeates the work of Plasmastudio and Groundlab. A diverse range of projects from furniture and interior design to buildings and masterplanning were shown to depict the main principles behind the practices that connects them in a local, regional and global scales. Furthermore the lecture served to introduce to the public of Xian the winning competition entry for the Horticultural Fair of 2011 in Xian City China.

XI'AN WORLD HORTICULTURAL EXPO TO BE DEVELOPPED BY PLASMASTUDIO + GROUNDLAB
Flowing Gardens begins from a single line -- an axis extends from the Gate to the Greenhouse, traveling through the East and West Hills and over the lake, while extending into many sinuous paths, creating a network of intermingling circulation, landscape and water. Much like the legendary Silk Road, Flowing Gardens is connectivity, circulation, rejuvenation, and elegance.

LANDSCAPE URBANISM IN SHENZHEN UNIVERSITY

Landscape Urbanism, Processual Utopias is the title of the lecture that Alfredo Ramirez will be presenting in ShenZhen University on 12th January 2009. The lecture outlines the modes of operation of Landscape Urbanism with regards to its large scale territorial approach, reading of processes and engagement with scales, giving both academic and real life examples of wirk related this emerging discipline.

AALU IN URBAN ECOLOGIES SYMPOSIUM, PARIS

AALU design tutor Eduardo Rico will be giving a lecture within the Urban Ecologies Symposium held at the Ecole Speciale d'Architecture in Paris. Eduardo will be outlining the design methodology behind Landscape Urbanism as well as another approach more linked to his role as infrastructural engineer within Arup. Both these two works are grounded on a critical engagement with social and material processes occuring in the territory, thus proving particularly relevant for the topic of urban ecologies.

LU presents in China Planning Research Group

Tomaz Pipan will be presenting his LU MA thesis at the China Planning Research Group at the UCL. The lecture will be held on Wednesday 10 December
Room 401, 4th Floor, Wates House, 22 Gordon Street, London, WC1H OQB 6:00pm-7:30 pm
The project puts forward an urban strategy and a design proposal for an economical and social sustainable development of peri-urban areas in China. The lecture is followed by a discussion where the issues presented will be discussed in a greater detail.
